Your Recovery with Dr Jerry Tan
Generally, 90% of your vision will recover within the first 24 hours. On the third, fourth or fifth day you will experience cloudy/misty vision, but you should not worry because this is a common post-LASIK occurrence.
As a general rule the lower the initial refractive error, the quicker the recovery. If you have very high myopia, it is likely you will experience some minor night vision problems initially. This condition will improve over 2 to 6 months.
Most patients move around without much difficulty the day after surgery and many are able to return to work. However, to ensure your eye heals properly you should take the following precautions:
- Do not touch your eye for a week after LASIK;
- Do not rub your eye for at least one month;
- In the first month, do not engage in any form of water sports. During your bath, ensure no shampoo or soap suds enter your eye. Also, do not use eye drops not prescribed by your eye doctor;
- In the first 6 months, avoid all contact sports and any form of direct trauma to the eye.
